We are a selfish generation full of complainers. Seriosuly. I include myself in that group. I had some amazing patients at work today. One guy is on a transplant list for a heart. He has 2 pumps attached ot his body that are attached to a larger pump that literally pumps and filters his blood. I can't imagien what it is like to wait on a list- to be a number on a list that decides if you live. The man has been in the hospital since September. He was so optimistic and in such great spirits. he said he got depressed for 2 days, had a doctor tell him thats the worst attitude a person can have for their physical health, and decided then and there he'd snap out of it. Another patient I had srvived Hurricane Katrina. His story is awsome - former dug dealer moves up here with his family  (who still use), and he said f this, Im out. Moves himself into a shelter so get away from the drugs til he can get his life on track. Amaingly positive man. Has an enlarged heart nobody caught. He should be dead. No HIV, nothing. I told him hes here for a purpose. he says he knows. I also told him he could touch a lot of people's lives. He said he plans to. What the fuck do we complain for? Yea, we all have our shit., and I will be first to admit Im a complainer. We are asll so lucky. No matter how much shit goes down in our livges - bottom line, we are all alive. We are all healthy. Things can change. Things can get better. These peopel are so damn positive as their lives are literally crumbling around them. Amazing. 'We need ot buck up, kids.
