Valtrex Blues.
I couldn't sleep last night for some reason, so I stayed up late watching tv. It was Sunday night after all; that meant mini-marathon's of my favorite cheesy crime-drama's were running back to back on TBS. Hooray! So anyway, I'm watching, and a commercial came on for Valtrex. This got me thinking. Who are these people? Do they really have genital herpes or are they just acting? Have these commercials seriously damaged their dating lives? Who are these men and women playing opposite them? In reality..would they really hit that knowing the person had genital herpes? I tend to think (hope?) not. I mean really..that's something that cross3es my mind with a partner. Who have you been with and what do you have? For some reason this commercial fascinates me. Always beautiful happy people with the tainted crotches. Hmmm.....I'm going to find one of them and ask.

I think that if you get into a nationally televised commercial you can obtain a SAG card. My ex-girlfriend just got a part in a Napa autoparts commercial and she is super excited to finally be gettin into SAG for it. She's been in some crappy movies that went straight to Japanese DVD, but none of them could get her recognized by SAG. Now she will probably be able to get better work. So, that's my thoughts on why people would voluntarily pretend to have an STD.

I like to come up with stories as to how they aquired their genital malady. I picture them in college sleeping with some smarmy looking guy like Flava Flave and waking up the next morning crying and looking at the bottle of Bukoff vodka from the night before, knowing full well they just made the worst mistake of their lives...suckers.

I could see someone taking a part like that for that reason. I mean really, would you recognize a person out on the street as being the 'valtrex girl'? I know I don't pay THAT much attention to the commercials.

OMG, that is hilarious. I have never given much thought to is before now as I really tend to shy away from the TV at all costs. But I do not think I would want a part playing some herpified character, no matter what job it may land me down the line. That will be a part of their career path forever...lol. But then again, I have no interest in a career in film...so I am sure they feel differently.
